University by the sea
The design for this year’s Annual Science Conference incorporates a unique wave motif, combining artistry and science. No two waves are alike as the images are generated from data streams from the Baltic Sea.
How was this possible? The innovators at Klaipėda University (KU) developed a
graphic design system, serving as a symbol of the sea’s continuous changes and evolution.
The visual identity system is driven by numerical model data that simulates wave height based on wind forcing, utilizing research conducted by KU scientists. This dynamic identity tool autonomously adapts to the latest data streams received directly from the Baltic Sea hydrodynamic and wave model.
For ASC 2025,
this existing design tool was creatively integrated into the conference materials, weaving KU’s spirit and vision with the mission of ICES, reflecting our shared dedication to advancing marine science.
