Hosted annually in different cities across ICES member countries, the ASC provides a platform for marine scientists to present new and innovative research, share ideas, and establish partnerships.
With its dynamic programme, it’s open to all career stages – from early career scientists to senior researchers. The conference features talks, poster sessions, workshops, keynotes and more, addressing key areas of ICES Science Plan. This includes ecosystem science, human impacts, emerging technologies, seafood production, and conservation.
The ASC has taken place every year since 1994, but its roots trace back to the establishment of ICES 1902, where first ICES annual statutory meeting took place. These earlier meetings focused on both scientific outputs and business planning, and the transition to the ASC in 1994 marked a shift towards a more focused, science-driven event.
We put a strong emphasis on early career development, inclusion, and networking while ensuring a welcoming and respectful environment.
