Deep-sea fisheries project

The FAO Deep-sea Fisheries project focuses on protecting fish species and habitats found in the deep oceans. The project promotes sustainable fishing practices in the areas beyond national jurisdiction (ABNJ).

The FAO Deep-sea Fisheries project studies the impact of deep-sea fishing on marine ecosystems. ICES contribution supports the development of stock assessment methodologies for data-limited deep-sea fisheries stocks in the ABNJ, building on the work performed by WKLIFE experts.
