ICES Annual Science Conference 2026

ASC 2026 conference format

At the Annual Science Conference 2026, we will use the Whova conference app, available to all registered participants.

The conference is primarily in-person, with limited app-based access to conference materials.

In-person participation
You are welcome to join keynotes, theme sessions, social events and several exciting excursions and side events.

App-acess only (25 EUR)
With app access, you will be able to:

View uploaded posters, videos, and keynote recordings
Chat with conveners and participants via the app
Ask questions using the app’s chat functions

There will be no live streaming of theme sessions. The conference is not structured as a hybrid event.

Keynotes speeches

All keynote speeches will take place live at Le Quartz - National Stage, Brest in France. Recordings of keynotes will be made available via the conference app.

Theme sessions

All theme sessions will be in person only at the conference venue.

Participants with app access (25 EUR) may ask questions to session conveners and presenters via the Whova app chat function.

Presentation formats

Oral presentation

Accepted authors will be invited to prepare an 10-minute presentation of their work.

Oral presentations may be delivered:

In person during a theme session, or
Via a pre-recorded presentation if the presenter is not attending on site

Pre-recorded presentations should be 6 minutes in length and will be played at the end of the relevant theme session.

Presenters who are not attending in person must submit their pre-recorded video to ICES Secretariat by 14 August 2026.

Poster presentations

Accepted poster authors are invited to:

Prepare a poster
Present it in person at the conference venue
Upload the poster to the conference app

Poster authors not attending in person may:

Upload their poster to the app
Have the poster displayed on site if a colleague brings it on their behalf

Uploading a poster to the app requires:

In-person registration or App-access registration (25 EUR)

Flash presentations

Flash presentations are 2-minute pre-recorded videos designed to provide a short and focused overview of the work.

Flash presentations will be displayed as rolling videos on 4–5 screens in a designated area at the conference venue.

Details on video format, submission instructions, and deadlines will be provided closer to the conference.
