Lead Organization: The French Research Institute for the Exploitation of the Sea (IFREMER), France
Duration: 2016-2020
ICES contact: Neil Holdsworth, Head of Data and Information
Project objectives:
SeaDataCloud is the follow-on from SeaDataNet (FP7) – a pan-European infrastructure developed by NODCs (National Oceanographic Data Center) and major research institutes around Europe. This phase will look at more effective and convenient access to marine data through upgrading the standards, tools and services and incorporating developments of new sensors, Cloud services and High Performance Computing (HPC). More users will be engaged for longer sessions by including advanced services in a Virtual Research Environment. SeaDataCloud will improve services to users and data providers, optimise connecting data centres and streams, and operate with other European and international networks.
ICES role:
- Project network coordination (WP2)
- Expansion and governance of metadata and data content (WP5)
- Governance of standards and development of common services (WP8)
- Developments of upstream services (WP9)
- Developments of downstream services (WP10)
- Development, update and publication of data products for European sea regions (WP11)
