​​​Climate change adaptation strategies are of great importance to fisheries and aquaculture to ensure long-term sustainable development of marine resources and coastal communities. This network session focuses on the role of stakeholders in the development of climate change adaptation strategies and the consideration of social aspects in management plans in fisheries and aquaculture, and provides an overview of case studies as well as lessons learned.

​The following topics will be discussed:

  • stakeholder involvement in the development of management plans or decision support tools that consider climate change adaptation, based on ecosystem and results-based management approaches
  • different stakeholder perceptions on climate change adaptation
  • novel multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary methodologies rooted in social sciences and marine sciences to inform decision makers and to communicate the climate adaptation challenges
  • maritime spatial planning and the ways to overcome impediments to this as climate changes affect those uses and users​
