Join the half-day excursion to the River Tees Estuary where nature-based solutions are being used to manage flood risk and the impact of sea level rise in a way that’s sustainable, both for the environment and the economy. The vision for the project is to realign, restore and reconnect intertidal habitats and species.
Trip itinerary:
8:30am Coach leaves Newcastle
9:30am Arrive Greatham Managed Realignment – seal hide/saltmarsh talk
11:00 - Arrive RSPB Saltholme. Free time to explore the reserve. TT video in the education room.
12:00 – lunch at Saltholme
12:30 – travel back to Newcastle
Max number of participants: The visit is limited to a number of 30 participants and seats will be given on a first come, first served basis.
Fee: 35€
Registration: Sign up for the excursion at the same time as you register for the ASC. If you have already registered for the conference, send us an email and we will send you a excursion registration link.
Your registration is binding once you have received a confirmation from ICES. Please make sure to cancel your slot if you are unable to attend. There will be a waiting list if the interest exceeds the limited number.
Please note, this excursion will not be on stable ground, with some elements of the visit going over floating pontoons and wetland terrain, and may be challenging for those with mobility challenges.
