ICES Annual Science Conference 2023

Boat trip on the river (Bizkaia bridge and metro)

Join us on this boat trip to discover the city and its surroundings!

Thursday, 14 September
16:30 - 19:30
Pio Baroja Square
A boat trip on the river is a fantastic way to see the city of Bilbao from a different perspektive!

One of the most popular boat trips starts at the pier of Pio Baroja, which is the closest pier to the Old Town. The boat will then take us through the whole area of Abandoibarra where we will see the Zubizuri Bridge, the Izozaki Towers, the Guggenheim Museum, the Euskalduna Palace while spotting the industrial past of the river, to finally end in the Portugalete-Getxo junction, where we will sail until the Biscay Bridge.

There we will disembark from the boat and walk to the gondola which will take us across.

Once on Las Arenas, we'll start our walking tour until we reach the unique subway designed by Norman Foster. From here we will return to Bilbao.
