The Regional DataBase (RDB) was a regionally coordinated platform for fisheries data used in EU assessments from 2012 to 2023. It stored commercial landing, effort, and sample data provided by EU countries, covering fisheries in the North Atlantic, North Sea, Baltic Sea, and Long-Distance Fisheries.
Originally supported by the FishFrame interface for data upload and validation, the system is now replaced by RDBES for data calls and uploads. The platform was developed by DTU Aqua and hosted by ICES, managed by a steering group of regional managers, ICES, and the European Commission, with funding from the EU and ICES. The RDB aimed to improve harmonisation, transparency, and data quality for the EU Common Fisheries Policy.
The data in the RDB remains available but is no longer accessible through the previous web interface. Access is granted upon request and subject to permission from the countries that provided the data.
