The combination of egg production estimates and fecundity data from fish sampled at appropriate time periods is important to the estimation of spawning stock biomass used in fish stock assessments. Fish fecundity data have been collected for a long time in the ICES area, during international ichthyoplankton surveys. The fecundity and atresia database, aims to be a platform where the wider scientific community can share, store and retrieve data, in a standardized format.
