Developments in taxonomy and systematics

Taxonomy and systematics are an integral part of our understanding of biodiversity. The integration of morphological and molecular data in taxonomy has considerably accelerated our understanding of species diversity and phylogenetic relationships. Yet, studies on taxonomy and systematics and the formation of experts remain challenged by limited funding opportunities.

This session will provide an opportunity for presentations and discussions with a focus on taxonomic work. Submissions can include studies from a range of taxonomic-related topics and might include species descriptions, developments in molecular markers and techniques for species identification, phylogeny, and approaches to facilitate identification from imagery.
