Size spectrum modelling is rapidly developing as an approach for studying the dynamical responses of size-structured populations, communities, and ecosystems to the effects of fishing and climate change. The R package "mizer" was developed to enhance the accessibility of size spectrum modelling tools for the wider community of ecological and fisheries modellers, particularly to aid in the development and application of multispecies size spectrum models.
To this end we will offer a 2-day free short course on "Getting Started with Mizer" followed by a wider 1-day research workshop on "Advances in Size Spectrum Models". Our aim is to bring together the growing community of users and developers of size spectrum models by supporting new users as well as discussing recent and future research directions in an informal and fun setting.
Tentative Schedule:
Day 1 and 2: Intro course to Size Spectrum Models with mizer
Day 3: Workshop: Advances in Size Spectrum Models (not limited to size spectrum models and other population and community size-structured modelling approaches are welcome)
We have limited spaces for this event, so please register your interest via the course website.
