Status: Completed (July 2006)
Coordinator:  Netherlands Institute for Fisheries Research - RIVO (now IMARES)

SLIME reviewed the information available and identified options for a coherent European management strategy.

SLIME project:

  • Described suitable models for the evaluation of the eel stock, quantifying recruitment and escapement and demonstrating compliance, or otherwise, with escapement limits and targets
  • Applied test case datasets for different life stages and catchment/fishery types
  • Formulated advice for a scientific framework based on the outcomes from the various models

IMARES was established in 2006, as a result of the merger of RIVO (the Netherlands Institute for Fisheries Research), elements of Alterra and the Department of Ecological Risks within the TNO (Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research).
