Workshop on Improving Cybersecurity
22–25 April 2025
Online meeting

The Workshop on Improving Cybersecurity (WKCYBER) addressed critical cybersecurity challenges within the ICES community. This workshop aimed to reduce the vulnerability of critical systems and networks and identify effective responses to cyberattacks. WKCYBER was held online 22–25 April 2025 to:

  • Identify key cybersecurity challenges facing the ICES community. The workshop created an evaluated inventory of these challenges.

  • Determine mitigating measures to enhance cybersecurity for the ICES community. A prioritized list of mitigating actions was produced.

  • Assesses the need for closer communication between ICES IT, the ICES Data Centre, and cybersecurity experts from ICES Member Countries. The workshop also discussed whether establishing a forum meeting on an ongoing basis is valuable.

  • Develop a communication plan for the wider ICES community during a cybersecurity incident. This plan would facilitate an informed and coordinated response while managing sensitive details to mitigate further security risks.
