Colm Lordan previously served as Vice-Chair of the Advisory Committee (ACOM) from 2018–2020. On his appointment, Lordan said, “I am honoured and delighted to be taking up the role of chair of ICES Advisory Committee. My tenure comes at a time of accelerating pace of change and increasing anthropogenic pressures on marine ecosystems. I believe ICES is well placed and will respond effectively to address the existing and emerging advisory needs of policymakers and managers. I very much look forward to working with, and leading, ACOM as we generate state-of-the-art evidence-based advice to meet conservation, management, and sustainability goals".
Colm will begin his initial 3-year term on 1 December 2023.

Colm Lordan, Ireland has been appointed as the incoming Chair of ICES Advisory Committee.
The Advisory Committee (ACOM) is the voice of ICES advice. ACOM translates ICES science into advice on the sustainable use, provision of services and protection of marine ecosystems. Each ICES member country has a representative on ACOM.
ACOM responds to requests for advice from ICES member countries, international commissions and organizations, and fisheries and ecosystem management bodies.
