Cadima had a remarkable career as a fisheries scientist. He worked closely with ICES for many years, serving as chair of the Hake Working Group and was also a member of the ICES Advisory Committee of Fisheries and Management (ACFM).
Cadima worked with the FAO/UNESCO until 1974. Later, he became a researcher at INIP/IPMAR (now IPMA) and a professor at the Algarve University in Portugal.
An excellent communicator and great master, he played a key role in the education of many of the current Portuguese scientists working on fisheries management. His sympathy, friendliness, and smile will be missed.
