The answer is simple: it's the members of our community. The experts whose decades of work cast light on marine ecosystems and sustainable management, work that resonates across borders. The leaders guiding from both visible and quiet positions. The mentors who bring early-career scientists into focus. The reviewers upholding the clarity and rigour that keeps ICES credible. The bridge-builders ensuring diverse voices aren't left in the shadows. The steady contributors whose influence radiates internationally, through work that helps everyone see more clearly. They're what makes ICES a beacon of trusted science.

The deadline for nominations is 12 April 2026. The winner will be announced at an award ceremony during our Annual Science Conference (ASC) in Brest, France, in September 2026.
How do I nominate?
There are two stages to this process.
First, nominations are made online. As a nominator, you will submit the candidate's name along with a few sentences describing why you have nominated them.
Following the 12 April deadline, the Awards Committee will contact the nominator to ask for more detailed supporting material about their candidate (nomination letter, CV, list of publications, and letters of support). The deadline for submitting supporting material is 3 May 2026.
Please be aware that nominations lacking supporting material will not be considered in the final evaluation. Self-nominations are not permitted.
