WKFISHDISH2 will facilitate the use of survey data to routinely produce distribution maps.
The workshop will review models of the spatial distribution of fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans based on survey data in standard formats to identify best practice guidance for model structure to derive distribution maps, and where possible, account for changes in distribution over time.
Using these models, WKFISHDISH2 will not only produce distribution maps but also define and establish an efficient and transparent approach to producing maps as well as formulating approaches to updating these maps.
Data and code used at the workshop will be openly available, allowing others to reuse the methods for specific issues. Data from both ICES area, the Mediterranean, and other areas with surveys will be used in the mapping of species distribution.
