This workshop develops guidance for addressing potential conflict of interest in data and information provision that may affect the integrity of ICES science and advice.
The group reviews existing guidance, standards, tools, and documentation from both within and outside ICES and produces guidance on how to identify and assess risks and document conflict of interest in data and information provision.
This work supports the integration of an increasing number of data and information contributions by third parties, such as the fishing industry and environmental organizations, often in response to existing knowledge gaps. ICES guidance on managing perceived or real conflicts of interests by data providers will contribute to protecting the legitimacy of ICES advice when data-providers with potential conflict of interests are involved.
