WKBEDLOSS

Workshop to scope the physical loss pressures on the seabed D6C1/C4- from methods to operational data products

A workshop to identify the main physical disturbance pressures that cause loss of seabed habitat in European waters.

11-13 March 2019
ICES Headquarters, Copenhagen, Denmark

This workshop will assess the spatial extent and distribution of physical loss pressures to the seabed (including the intertidal area) for each subdivision and MSFD broad habitat type. Physical loss by all relevant human activities, and specific characteristics of all European ecoregions will be considered.

Similar to WKBEDPRES1 in October last year, central to the WKBEDLOSS workshop is outlining guidance to the collation of physical loss pressure data across marine regions. The data will be taken to practical use in a follow-up workshop (WKBEDPRES2) later this autumn.

Registration

The workshop is chaired by Steven Degraer, Belgium and will meet 11-13 March at the ICES Headquarters  in Copenhagen, Denmark. There is no fee to participate, but registration is required.  If you plan to attend, please register at your earliest convenience by contacting Eirini Glyki at the ICES Secretariat. The meeting is planned to start on Monday 11 March at 13:00 and end on Wednesday 13 March by 13:00.

If the workshop is oversubscribed, ICES reserves the right, in consultation with the workshop Chairs, to select the final workshop participants based on geographic and subject expertise distribution.
