The Workshop on Acoustic Backscatter Models (WKABM) will scope strategies for developing open-source acoustic scattering models and training opportunities in using these models.
The workshop will identify current challenges with acoustic scattering models, discuss the development and availability of scattering models to a broader community (open source and open access), provide guidance on model selection, and develop benchmarking strategies.
This work will support a better understanding of acoustic backscattering patterns.
The workshop will report directly to the Working Group on Fisheries Acoustics, Science and Technology (WGFAST).
