The Working Group on the Ecosystem Effects of Fishing Activities (WGECO) focuses on the ecosystem effects of fisheries, especially with regard to the application of the Ecosystem Approach.
WGECO has linkages to several other expert groups. For example WGSAM has considered the implications of balanced fisheries on fish stocks; and WGFAST has considered the technologies to reduce seabed effects.
