The Working Group on SmartDots Governance (WGSMART) oversees the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of SmartDots, a tool supporting age reading and maturity staging exchanges, workshops, and training exercises.
SmartDots provides a platform for the quality assurance of biological parameters used as input to stock assessments. WGSMART focuses on addressing recommendations, issues, and improvement requests raised by end-users. Feedback collected from users is compiled by WGSMART, and appropriate actions with assigned responsibilities are defined and prioritized.
WGSMART is also responsible for maintaining and updating user manuals, as well as identifying and facilitating relevant training and outreach activities to support the effective use of SmartDots.
The group works in close collaboration with the Working Group on Biological Parameters
(WGBIOP) to ensure alignment of efforts and to identify future opportunities for the development of SmartDots as a quality assurance platform.
