Kostas was a distinguished oceanographer and the Chairman of the European Marine Board. Over the past decade, he has been a reliable partner in many joint ventures with ICES. He assumed a key role in the MARCOM+ initiative, was the driving force behind MyOcean, and invested a lot of enthusiasm in many other projects ICES has teamed up with.
With the passing of Kostas Nittis, ICES has lost a true friend.
