Climate change symposium calling for abstracts

The call for abstracts is now open for the 4th International Symposium on the Effects of Climate Change on the World’s Oceans.
Published: 2 November 2017

The symposium is taking place 4–8 June 2018, in Washington D.C., USA, and the call for abstracts is open until 12 January 2018. There are 18 theme sessions from which to choose.

The conference provides a forum for scientists to discuss exciting innovations, discoveries, and outcomes of their research. It will also bring important knowledge to decision-makers and stakeholders.

Rapid progress in understanding the planet’s climate system has enabled projections of alternative scenarios on current and future conditions of socio-ecological marine systems throughout the world. These advances build on a growing body of science – from studies on the adaptive capacity of single species or human communities to new modeling techniques that evaluate climate-driven changes, interactions, and feedbacks within socio-ecological systems under alternative future scenarios.

ICES is organizing the conference along with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC/UNESCO), and the North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES). It is the latest edition in a series of climate change meetings, the most recent of which took place in 2015 in Santos, Brazil.
