WKSACBAL takes place in Lisbon, Portugal, 13-17 October 2014. The workshop will set future standards for the quality assurance of biological measurements and their incorporation into ICES advisory procedure, ultimately supporting the sustainable use of living marine resources.
"Age and maturity data are fundamental parts of the stock assessment process and a great deal of effort is put into ensuring the data are of high quality. It is important that the analytical tools used at age, maturity, and other calibration workshops are fit for purpose, delivering informative outputs for the workshop participants and the stock assessment process", explained Lotte Worsøe Clausen (DTU Aqua, Denmark), who co-chairs the workshop with Ernesto Jardim (Joint Research Centre, EC).
When asked about potential participants, Worsøe Clausen adds, "We want to make sure that we have the best possible representation of experts at this workshop. Therefore, we encourage statisticians, stock-assessors, software developers, and biologists to partake."
