From 11-15 October 2020, leading global fisheries experts across research, industry and management will converge on Adelaide, Australia for one of the largest international fisheries conferences.
WFC2020 is now welcoming abstract submissions under a list of topics that are organised around four key themes:
- sustainable fisheries (assessment, regulation, enforcement)
- fish and aquatic ecosystems (biodiversity, conservation, ecosystem function, integrated management)
- fisheries and society (contributions to sustainable development)
- future of fish and fisheries (innovations in fisheries)

ICES offers Early Career Scientist support for WFC2020
ICES provides support to assist early career scientists from ICES countries to attend the WFC2020. The support will cover registration fees only. Limited funds are available and applicants will be selected based on how well their application matches the congress themes and whether they fulfil the necessary criteria.
ICES support is available for those who are:
- an early career scientist that is either 35 years of age or younger OR has completed PhD in the last 5 years
and
- a national of or working/studying in an ICES member country.
To apply for ICES support, select 'I would like to apply for ICES Early Career Support' in the Abstract Submission Portal when submitting your abstract. You will receive an email confirming your abstract submission including a link to an application form that you will need to complete to be considered.
