ICES releases advice on North Atlantic salmon

ICES advice for the North Atlantic Salmon Conservation Organization (NASCO) on North Atlantic salmon for 2013 has been published.
Published: 8 May 2013

The salmon stocks in the North Atlantic remain in a depleted state, and ICES advises that fishing should only take place in rivers where stocks have been shown to be at full reproductive capacity.

The management of a fishery should be based on the individual status of all stocks exploited and ensure that fisheries in homewaters are managed to protect the stocks that are below conservation limits.
