ICES Awards

How to nominate

Who inspires you in ICES? It's time to nominate a fellow ICES colleague whose contribution to marine science and international collaboration deserves special recognition.

Nominations are open for the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award. The award ceremony takes place at ICES Annual Science Conference (ASC) in Klaipeda, Lithuania in September 2025.

This annual award recognizes a member of ICES community who has made important contributions to ICES in the field of marine science over a sustained period.

ICES awards recognize the diversity of the marine science community, and we encourage nominations from all groups.

The deadline for nominating is 1 April.

How do I nominate?

There are two stages to this process. First, nominations are made online. As a nominator, you will submit the candidate's name along with a few sentences describing why you have nominated them.

Following the 1 April deadline, the Awards Committee will ask the nominator to submit more detailed supporting material about their candidate (nomination letter, CV, list of publications, and letters of support). The deadline for contributing supporting material is 1 May.

Please be aware that nominations lacking supporting material will not be considered in the final evaluation. Self-nominations are not permitted.
