The Data team comprises 15 staff members who provide marine data services to ICES member countries, science expert groups, European Commission, Regional Seas Conventions (HELCOM and OSPAR), the European Environment Agency (EEA), and various other projects and portals.
We seek a candidate to fill the role of Data Officer working primarily with data flows (acoustic trawl surveys, DATRAS, RDB-FishFrame), for the assessment of the population status of fish stocks, as well as indicators related to the ecosystem approach to fisheries. This role involves close collaboration with national institute experts dealing with data collection and the assessment of these data for both fisheries dependent and fisheries independent data.
Due to the important and dynamic aspect of managing internal and external relations with data customers, this role will require a flexible and service-minded approach. A vocational or educational background related to fisheries or marine management, and/or statistics and/or biology are an essential aspect of this role as a thematic understanding is as important as technical skills in this position.
