The North Sea Cod Tiger Team is a sub-group of WGNSSK (Working Group on the Assessment of Demersal Stocks in the North Sea and Skagerrak).
The sub-group will work on the Terms of Reference and generate deliverables as listed below.:
a) Review the available data and assessment set up for Northen Shelf cod and scope out and prioritise options to improve the stock assessment and forecast methodology.
b) Propose a workplan to ACOM for the short term i.e. September 2025- August 2026, which will be conducted by the tiger team, and a plan for the medium-term (e.g. next 3 years) in collaboration with WKCODSCOPE, including prioritising data and research needs to be addressed before the next benchmark.
c) Based on ACOM feedback following the scoping meeting and available resourcing from ICES member countries, implement the short-term workplan to put forward a revised stock assessment and forecast that can be used by WGNSSK in September 2026 as the basis for draft advice for 2027.
d) Regularly and transparently communicate progress on the short-term workplan to WGNSSK, ACOM and stakeholders.
