Annual Science Conference Internship

We are seeking an intern who will assist us with the organization of the  2021 Annual Science Conference (ASC) that will take place in September.

We are currently seeking an intern for our Secretariat in central Copenhagen, who, along with other administrative tasks, will assist with the organization of the 2021 Annual Science Conference (ASC) that will take place in September. The intern will work closely with the Conference and Training Coordinator.   Currently, our staff mostly work remotely but there will be the possibility of meeting in person at ICES Secretariat as allowed by the guidelines.

Our Secretariat has a staff of approximately 70 people. As many of our employees come from different national backgrounds, our workplace has an international and social atmosphere.​

Main responsibilities

In relation to the Annual Science Conference, we need a talented intern, who is highly organized and diligent, to help us with tasks such as:

  • managing participant registrations
  • supporting content population of the new conference app for smartphones
  • organizing abstracts and pre-recorded presentations submitted by presenters (incl. quality checking, formatting, and embedding on the app)
  • administering community forums on the conference app
  • updating the ASC website and posting information on social media
In addition to the main ASC-related tasks, we will ask you to help with:

  • contributing to the digitization process of ICES historical publications archive
  • other administration tasks, such as report and data screening

Qualifications and experience

For this position we are looking for someone who:

  • has completed a higher educational programme in a discipline related to marine science, administration, or event management
  • possesses excellent English language skills (speaking, reading, writing)
  • is highly organized with an eye for detail
  • is knowledgeable of Microsoft Office suite

It is additionally helpful if you have:

  • previous working experience in administration and coordination
  • familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint & Teams
  • experience with importing information to smart phone applications

Terms of appointment

This is a part-time internship of 24 hours per week and you must qualify for internship or wage subsidized financial support (virksomhedspraktik or løntilskud) from your municipality. The internship is based in Copenhagen, Denmark and the prefer​red period for this position is mid-May 2021 to September 2021.
