ICES is an intergovernmental organization that develops science, advice, and related data products to support the sustainable use of the oceans.

The Advisory Committee (ACOM) oversees the process to provide scientific advice to competent authorities in support of the sustainable management of marine resources and ecosystems throughout the North Atlantic Ocean. ACOM covers fisheries management advice in relation to more than 250 stocks as well as integrated ecosystem-based advice.

In the role of Chair, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of timely, quality-assured and science-based advice. Your responsibilities also include liaising with clients and stakeholders and representing ICES in the presentation of advice. This work requires comprehensive preparation and can include a considerable amount of travel. It will be important for you to maintain and develop relationships with the current ICES stakeholders in addition to keeping an eye out for new opportunities for cooperation and innovative ways of delivering advice.
