Intern for the ICES Annual Science Conference

​Use your organizational skills to help international scientists share their research and ideas!

​​​​We are currently seeking an intern who, along with other administrative tasks, will assist with the 2020 Annual Science Conference (ASC); a week-long conference that has hundreds of attendees from around the world. The intern will therefore work closely with the Conference and Training Coordinator at the ICES Secretariat.

​Main responsibilities

In relation to the Annual Science Conference, we need a talented intern, who is highly organized and diligent, to help us with tasks such as:

  • Managing participant registrations for presenters
  • Organizing abstracts submitted by conference presenters (incl. formatting and sharing with conference participants)
  • Administrating the web-based conference theme session schedule
  • Administering new conference app for smartphones
  • Working together with the IT team to make the ASC website more user friendly
  • Posting announcements on the website and social media

​In addition to the main ASC-related tasks, we will ask you to help with:

  • Cataloguing and tagging of historical reports, to help us build a rich archive of science and advice; and
  • Other administration tasks, such as report and data screening
​Qualifications and experience

For this position we are looking for someone who:

  • Has completed a higher educational program in a discipline related to marine science, administration, or event management
  • Possesses excellent English language skills (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Is highly organized with an eye for detail
  • Is knowledgeable of Microsoft Office suite

It can be additionally helpful if you have:

  • Previous working experience in administration and coordination
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint
  • Experience with importing information to smart phone applications

Terms of appointment

This is a part-time internship of 20 hours per week and you must qualify for internship or wage subsidized financial support (virksomhedspraktik or løntilskud)  from your municipality. The preferred period for this position is early April 2020 to September 2020 but dates are somewhat negotiable based on the needs of the intern.
