ICES/PICES 6th Zooplankton Production Symposium

Scientific programme

The five-day symposium will consist of plenary
sessions, parallel theme sessions, poster
presentations, and a plenary summing-up session.

The schedule for the symposium is now available to view online or download. There will be printed schedules for each participant.

  1. Application of optical and acoustical methods in zooplankton studies
  2. Response of zooplankton communities to changing ocean climate
  3. The diversity and role of macrozooplankton in marine ecosystems
  4. Zooplankton diversity in the oceans by integrative morphological and molecular techniques
  5. The role of microzooplankton in marine food webs
  6. Individual level responses of zooplankton to environmental variability and climate change
  7. Zooplankton in high-latitude ecosystems
  8. New technologies and approaches in zooplankton trophic studies

Scientific sessions will include invited and contributed papers.
Posters will be on display throughout the symposium.

Evening poster sessions will take place on days 2 and 3 where poster authors are expected to be available to answer questions on their work.

Day 3 will be dedicated to workshops.

  1. Use of zooplankton indicators to characterize state of pelagic ecosystems
  2. ICES/PICES cooperative research initiative: towards a global measurement of zooplankton production
  3. Zooplankton as a potential harvestable resource
  4. Effects of microplastics on zooplankton
  5. Zooplankton as the “to” in end-to-end models
  6. A hands-on introduction to time series analysis, visualization, and inter-comparison of plankton survey data
  7. Toward a taxonomically-comprehensive global reference database for DNA barcodes of marine zooplankton
