Professor Georgiy Shulman has passed away

ICES is sad to announce the demise of Prof. Georgiy Shulman, one of the pioneering scientists working on fish condition
Published: 15 November 2016

Only one day before the ICES workshop on fish condition (WKFICON) starts in Girona, we have been informed that Professor Georgiy Shulman passed away on 13 November 2016 at the age of 87.

Dr. Shulman was a renowned marine zoologist specializing in fish ecology and physiology.  His well-known investigations have had great significance in the areas of fish adaptations, biodiversity, life history and productivity, and fishery problems.  His research was carried out at the Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas in Sevastopol, Ukraine.  He was the author of many books and articles that provided an undeniable and substantial contribution to fish condition studies.

We all mourn the loss of an excellent scientist and teacher who inspired us.  We hope to continue his work.
