There hasn't been one major highlight, but a lot of interesting things: it's been great to meet new people, hear the talks of my colleagues, getting to see another part of the world. I'm always interested in what's going on in the field and the conference is a great place for that.

I have to say that it was the dinner last night. The band was great and so different, but probably appealed to many. It was also a great opportunity to talk with people in a more relaxed atmosphere.

I work with ecosystem models, so it's been great to meet with people who do research on the same field. You can exchange views and ideas and find out that they may have other kinds of questions in their mind than I have, so it is greatly enriching my work.

Thank you, Louise! |

|
| Louise Scharff, the ICES coordinating secretary, received a farewell gift from the Council and ICES Secretariat at the conference dinner. Mike Sinclair, the 1st vice-president, and Claus Hagebro, ICES staff representative, extended a big thank you to Louise for her dedicated work at the Secretariat. Louise is leaving ICES in the end of September to pursue new challenges: she has taken up a position with GBIF in Copenhagen. We wish Louise the best of luck in her future endeavours! We will miss you! |
