Excursions

1. Highlights of Copenhagen:

City sightseeing tour by coach through the streets of Copenhagen where you will be introduced to the major sights of the city, including Tivoli Gardens, the Ny Carlsberg Glyptoteque with it's incredible collection of art, as well as the National Museum. We will cross over picturesque canals to arrive at Christiansborg Parliament for a tour of the reception rooms. We will see the old stock exchange built in the 17th century, The Royal Theatre, home of the Royal Danish Ballet and continue to Nyhavn, known for its nightlife. Here we take a brisk walk along the canals past old houses, including Hans Christian Andersen's old home. We end the tour with a visit to Amalienborg Palace (no inside visit), the home of the Danish Queen Margrethe II.

Date: Wednesday 2 October, 09.00-12.00
Price: DKK 155 per person
Duration: 3 hours
Included: Christiansborg Parliament
Walking: Easy

2. Highlights of Copenhagen on a bike:

This bicycle tour includes all the features and sights of the "Highlights of Copenhagen" as described above, but on a bike and with guides. A fun and "Danish" way to see this beautiful city.

3. Castle and Countryside:

Drive along the Danish Riviera, passing the impressive Deer Park with its thousands of deer and 300-year old beech forest before arriving at the world famous castle of Kronborg. Kronborg sits on the cliffs above the shore with a view over to Sweden. Inside this impressive castle you will see everything as it was back in the 16th century, including the dungeons. A 'Smørrebrød buffet' will be served, allowing you to taste Danish specialities while enjoying the beautiful Danish countryside. Last stop before returning to Copenhagen will be the modern art museum Louisiana, beautifully situated in the woods overlooking the Danish Sound (Øresund). Enjoy this rather unique museum with paintings, drawings, and sculptures, perfectly set in the rough nature, a special feature of this museum.

Date: Sunday 6 October, 09.00-15.00
Price: DKK 465 per person
Duration: 6 hours
Included: Kronborg Museum, Louisiana Art Museum, and buffet lunch
Walking: Moderate with many stairs and cobbled stones. Wear walking shoes

4. Vikings and Countryside:

After leaving Copenhagen we will drive past villages and farms on our way to the first capital of Denmark, Roskilde. Here we pay a visit to the Viking Ship Museum and see an interesting film about the five Viking ships recently excavated from Roskilde Fjord. These ships were sunk 1000 years ago in order to prevent enemy ships from entering the Fjord. Admire the craftsmanship of these five vessels. Our next stop will be an old Viking tomb where the Vikings were buried along with their animals. See the old engravings on the wall in the dimly-lit atmosphere. We will return to Copenhagen on the old country road.

Date: Thursday 3 October, 09.00-13.00
Price: DKK 180 per person
Duration: 4 hours
Included: Viking Ship Museum and Viking Tomb
Walking: Moderate. Wear comfortable shoes or boots

5. Glimpse of Sweden:

After leaving Copenhagen by bus we will enter the new tunnel and bridge connecting Denmark with Sweden. In only 25 minutes we are in the town of Malmö situated on the waterfront and with a breathtaking view of Copenhagen. Enjoy a guided walking tour of old and new Malmö; time will be allowed for you to walk around on your own.

Date: Saturday 5 October, 09.00-13.00
Price: DKK 265 per person
Duration: 4 hours
Walking: Easy (Remember to bring your passport)
