ICES issued its first
publication within a year of its foundation. Since then, thousands
more have been published, including many that are now considered to be the
standard references in their respective fields:
- The ICES Journal of Marine Science is our flagship publication and has been contributing to our understanding of marine science since 1926. It also serves as a foundation for scientific advice across the broad spectrum of marine management and conservation issues.
- ICES Advice is an annual summation of all the advice provided by the Advisory Committee (ACOM). The advice is based on an ecosystem approach to management.
- Cooperative Research Reports (CRRs) present reports prepared by expert groups, committees, and ad hoc groups.
- Techniques in Marine Environmental Sciences (TIMES) publications present detailed descriptions of methods and procedures relating to chemical and biological measurements in the marine environment.
- Identification Leaflets provide standard keys and diagnostic aids for identifying phytoplankton and zooplankton species and the most important diseases and parasites of fish and shellfish in the North Atlantic.
- Series of ICES Survey Protocols is a series of survey manuals covering the protocols and procedures used in ICES coordinated fisheries and ecosystem surveys, including trawl, acoustic, and ichthyoplankton surveys.
- Expert Group reports are working documents from expert groups which examine various facets of the marine ecosystem.
- ICES Insight is an annual magazine highlighting some of the prominent work carried out by the ICES community.
Many of our publications, both historical and new, are
freely available in our online library. Selected volumes are available to order
on CD while hard copies can be ordered from ICES Secretariat.
