ICES/PICES 6th Zooplankton Production Symposium

Does climate change matter for zooplankton production in upwelling systems?

Ruben Escribano, Centro FONDAP-COPAS, Universidad de Concepción, Chile

"Does climate change matter for zooplankton production in upwelling systems?" integrates main findings, after nearly 20 years of research on population dynamics of pelagic copepods and euphausiids from the coastal upwelling zone, along with climate-induced oceanographic variation, providing insights about mechanisms and factors controlling zooplankton production and how they can be impacted by ongoing climate change.

Ruben Escribano obtained a PhD at the Biology Department of Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada, where he graduated in 1991. He is currently Professor at the Department of Oceanography, University of Concepción and his work in the past two decades has been mostly focused on the dynamics of zooplankton in the Chilean coastal upwelling system.
