12-15 June 2018, ICES Headquarters, Copenhagen, Denmark

The EU recently revised the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) decision to provide guidance on the methods to integrate biodiversity indicators for species (descriptor 1). ICES is being asked to review its previous advice in light of this revision. The risk of these suggested methods of failing to assess population trends of sensitive, threatened or vulnerable species needs to be evaluated. What is the possibility that overall MSFD D1 species assessments will fail to flag deleterious declines in species at risk?

This workshop is being facilitated by ICES and is part of the EU MSFD central implementation strategy. Researchers especially from the ICES network and the EU WGGES network are invited to participate.

Interest in participating should be registered either through the formal ICES nomination process or by contacting Eirini Glyki (Eirini@ices.dk) at the ICES secretariat. If the workshop is oversubscribed, ICES reserves the right, in consultation with the workshop Chairs, to select the final workshop participants based on geographic and subject expertise distribution.Participants will be informed three weeks prior to the workshop.
