Dear Henrik & Hans,

Your paranoiac server has rejected my mail of yesterday because the 
attached .zip file included executable programs. I don't know whether 
the other parts of the mail arrived to you, and therefore re-send the 
whole lot.

I have attempted to fool your server by changing the extension of the 
CSAo, CSAme and X2Cdata programs from .exe to .run.
If this works, then you will have to move these files from \benoit\CSA\Win to \CSA\Win and change the .run extension back to .exe

Note that there should be no virus problem: my disk is under continuous 
watch by a firewall software that is updated every day.

Hope you get it this time. Keep me aware.

I'm more than willing to see CSA used by ICES WG, if only because this 
will generate feed-back so that a bunch of people can get involved in 
improving the method and its implementation.
But I also do strongly agree with the principle edicted by ICES, that 
all methods used for advice should be formally evaluated and endorsed. To that end, about a month ago I sent a letter to David and Hans (copy 
attached) with the software on floppy, asking that the thing be put into 
the pipeline for evaluation. Got no response so far.

But since you ask for it, I'm very glad to send you the attached zipped 
file (NOTE: this is more up to date than the one I sent on floppy); this 
includes a Readme listing the content, a manual explaining how to 
install and run the stuff, and worked examples.

Feel free to test it yourself on real assessment data, and to put it for 
use by whoever may be interested.

PS: I also join an undocumented XL file implementing catch forecasts 
based on CSA output. André and I used it to check what the Herring WG 
did with the NS Sprat predictions: their explanations are quite vague, 
and we get very different TAC outlook!
