The Best Paper award is given to the candidate who shows:

  • scientific excellence, creativity, innovation, and leadership;
  • addresses a particular science question in an objective, clear and concise manner;
  • ability to respond to questions concerning their presentation.

The winner presented a vessel detection system which locates vessel positions from images made by orbiting satellites. The impressive presentation shows the use of such images for surveillance of the fishing vessels at the example of the redfish fleet operating in the Irminger Sea.
