Advice - Introduction

Introduction

ICES is the prime source of advice on the marine ecosystem to governments and international regulatory bodies that manage the North Atlantic Ocean and adjacent seas.

We have three committees that produce advice. These are:

- Advisory Committee on Fishery Management

Advice on the status of over 135 fish and shellfish stocks in the Northeast Atlantic.

- Advisory Committee on the Marine Environment

Advice and information on the marine environment, including pollution.

- Advisory Committee on Ecosystems

Advice on the status and outlook for marine ecosystems, including the effects of human exploitation.

These Committees pull together scientific advice from the work of the 100 or more Working and Study Groups that ICES coordinates.
