Denmark's Queen unable to attend the Centenary
Day
In April this year, ICES was informed by the Ministry of Food,
Agriculture and Fisheries (who are responsible for these arrangements) that Her
Majesty Queen Margrethe II would take part in the opening event of the ICES Centenary
Day on 4 October 2002.
On 6 August the Royal Court made a public announcement
that Her Majesty the Queen would be out of Copenhagen on 4 October, in order to
be present at the baptism of her grandson.
In response to a letter sent
by the General Secretary on 6 August to the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and
Fisheries, the Ministry informed ICES on 13 August "the Court has expressed
their regrets, that it is not possible for Her Majesty to be at the opening on
the Centenary".
